Submission Guidelines
Fabled publishes micro and flash fiction from writers of any background or experience. Both categories are open year-round and we do not charge submission fees.
Payment
We pay our authors $50 for original micro fiction
We pay our authors $75 for original flash fiction

Micro Fiction
up to 450 words
Flash Fiction
451-950 words
Submission Details
Simultaneous Submissions
We accept them, but please inform us immediately and withdraw your work if accepted elsewhere.
Previously Published
We will consider reprints if you retain the rights or can obtain second-publication rights. We do not pay for reprints.
Submission Limit
Up to two stories in the same document. Please wait 1 month after our initial reply before submitting again.
Cover Letter & Bio
Cover letters are optional, but it's nice to know who is submitting to us. Please refrain from describing your stories—the work needs to speak for itself.
Including the title and word count of each story is helpful. Please include a brief third-person biography statement.
Response Time
Please allow us up to two months to inform you if we have accepted your work for publication. You will usually hear from us much sooner.
Publication Rights
Fabled holds first serial publication rights for three months after publication. Authors agree not to publish, nor authorize or permit the publication of, any part of the material for three months following Fabled's first publication.
Optional Editorial Feedback
We will include 1 page of feedback on what we liked and didn't like about a flash of your choice from the submission, suggestions for revision, where it might be a good fit, and other comments about craft.
