Quick Overview

We are an online space for people to read and submit flash fiction. And that's it. Sometimes we run contests, sometimes we don't. All are welcome to submit and read. We accept submissions year-round on a rolling basis. Accepted pieces receive a modest honorarium.

What is Flash or Micro Fiction?

It's just very short fiction pieces. Anywhere from 400 words up to around 1000 words.

What We Publish

We look for short work that makes us feel something. Wonder, tension, emotional weight, mystery, something unsettling, faith, a small truth, or anything that presses against the heart.

Open to All Genres

We welcome all forms of writing. Whether it's slices of life, fantasy, sci-fi, literary fiction, faith, horror, romance, mystery, or anything in between.

Submissions

Fabled is open year-round and welcomes submissions from all writers. We publish microfiction (up to 450 words) and flash fiction (451-950 words). Featured stories are highlighted on our homepage, while our complete archive of stories can be found on the All Flash Fiction page. Accepted pieces receive a modest honorarium.

Writing Prize

We also offer writing contests throughout the year with cash prizes, celebrating exceptional flash fiction that captures the essence of what makes brief stories unforgettable.
